we were camping this last weekend in eastern oregon with our dometic. outside temps were over 100F for 3 days, side of the trailer with the fridge faced south, direct sun every day. During the day we were out exploring and the AC was off, so inside was HOT.
I was prepared for the worst with the fridge figuring it would be hard to keep fridge temps under control. Not to worry, Temps in the fridge stayed below 40F, freezer stayed at 0F.
that's with the std dometic fan running in the vent stack and a single fan on the cooling coils in the fridge.
That's crazy impressive. If I can get mine to perform this well after my fan mods, I'll be a happy camper!
one thing we have found that IMHO is near the top of the "critical" list is to NOT keep opening/closing the fridge or standing there with the door open deciding what to get out especially when it is hot outside and inside. Absorption fridges don't have a fast recovery cycle and letting all the cold air spill out onto the floor wrecks havoc with interior temps.
