Door latch installation

I've got a cargo trailer I pull behind my Class B. It lets me carry way more supplies, along with a generator and scooter for extended camping. Currently, it has the cargo door swinging latch. I'd like to remove this and put an RV style latch on the side door. Mainly so evil minded little snot can't walk by and lock the door on me. At the race track I've seen guys play these little games.

Has anybody done this? Will I need to swap the door or can the RV latch available at my local dealer go in with some drilling? I'm not too concerned about security as there will usually be someone around at the pits.
