Because the dump valves are now located at the very outside edge of the vehicle, I can now remove the end cap( dump and clean the tank first), pull the slide open, clean out whatever gunk is lodged between the two seals with a narrow and thin flat bladed tool. Then I use a NON PETROLEUM based silicone(think plumber's grease and not vaseline nor WD40) grease on the end of my fingers or tooth brush and apply it liberally to the exposed slide. I'd be concerned about using a grease gun to lube the slides because I've never seen silicone grease come in a cartridge to fit a grease gun and I'd worry that the slide would transfer any petroleum based material onto the slides which would soften and make them swell and cause the slides to get very hard to move.
I was at a K Mart in New Mexico years ago when I'd gotten out of the rv and noticed liquid leaking onto the parking lot from underneath the vehicle. I looked and found the gray water valve was leaking fairly rapidly. I then realized it had to do with my extreme difficulty operating the valve the day before because now, the seals had been forced out of position and was allowing the water to leak onto the ground! What a mess! I had a few choice words for the situation which actually helped a bit. Learned a very valuable lesson though.
