Extra entry step

There are some sites that we could use an extra step to get into the trailer. I have seen the adjustable aluminum one but is very costly. Has anybody built there own that breaks down for hauling? I thought about maybe using one of the exercise steps that you can add too for different heights and in even ground. Thanks Michael
  • proftdant139 - Thanks. But my concern with trying to us one with a Class A is the fact it's not automatic when you open the door. Being inside and stopping for gas (or anything else) you need that step to automatically fold out to allow you to step down gracefully and not have to jump to the ground.

    Hope that makes sense.

  • Doug, it does make sense. I forgot that one rides INSIDE a Class A, unlike a trailer! I suppose you could use a parachute . . . . ;)

We were using the same plastic step Bobbo uses, but I just replaced my double step (it was damaged by the previous owner) with a triple step. Depending on the level of the site our first step is anywhere from a few inches off the ground to 10 inches. It's working out great for the kids so far and wasn't too expensive.
Have wanted to replace my 2 step step with a 3, but can't find any to fit,,, different width, wondering how you changed yours out?
  • You may want to check out a two step with a different size drop..had to install one on a previous rv. Right now I have two plastic 2liter soda bottle cases just ziptied side by side, turned upside down, with a piece of grass carpet wrapped around it. Gives me a sturdy, tip proof, wide platform that is 6" high. Very lightweight.
