There are some sites that we could use an extra step to get into the trailer. I have seen the adjustable aluminum one but is very costly. Has anybody built there own that breaks down for hauling? I thought about maybe using one of the exercise steps that you can add too for different heights and in even ground. Thanks Michael

We use an exercise step. It is long and wide and can be made shorter or taller. It is also plastic and light weight. It has worked great for several years.

I have 2 of these Folding Step Stools It folds completely flat for storage.

I built one from wood that doesn't fold up but stores just inside the door. The key is to have the legs at the outer most areas of the step. don't want it to easily tip over.

Picked up an exercise step at thrift store for couple of dollars..it has inserts to make it higher..lightweight and works great. Stores in basement or just inside the entry door when we travel.

I bought one of those somewhat expensive folding steps from AMAZON when I first got my OFF-ROAD POPUP trailer which is abit high from the bottom steps to the ground since the tires are alot higer than the standard trailers.The beauty of this step for me is its very heavy duty construction. My camping is usually OFF-ROAD and I can stomp the heck out this grated step keeping alot of dirt and small leaves out of the trailer..Folds up great and stores right inside my trailer door when in transport mode...To keep folks honest I have a tether coiled bicycle cable lock arrangement that runs through my COLEMAN GRILL and this folding step and ties into the metal step assy installed on the trailer. proftdant139 - Thanks. But my concern with trying to us one with a Class A is the fact it's not automatic when you open the door. Being inside and stopping for gas (or anything else) you need that step to automatically fold out to allow you to step down gracefully and not have to jump to the ground.

Hope that makes sense.

Doug, it does make sense. I forgot that one rides INSIDE a Class A, unlike a trailer! I suppose you could use a parachute . . . . ;)

You may want to check out a two step with a different size drop..had to install one on a previous rv. Right now I have two plastic 2liter soda bottle cases just ziptied side by side,turned upside down, with a piece of grass carpet wrapped around it. Gives me a sturdy, tip proof, wide platform that is 6" high. Very lightweight.
