I still use PEAK 7" monitor and the wireless camera mounted to my RV ladder on my 5er. I installed this in the first year of the owning the 5er. It has proven to be an OK camera and monitor. IT does break up sometimes. BUT I can judge who I pass and when to get back over. IT is ok for backing up but IT does take some getting use too. I know how far I am from something based on owning it for 5-6 years.
I have had to reorder a new transmitter from PEAK and they were very good to deal with as far replacing the transmitter.
I ran the wiring under the 5er to a point as far it would reach on the factory wire. Then I soldered a new wire to get it to reach the front storage area. Then I ran the wiring that hooks to the transmitter with the factory fittings through the battery vent hole(piece) then I pull the transmitter off anytime we are sitting still or not towing. I have used velcro to secure the transmitter to the outside light that is on the drivers' side of the camper. This gives it a more straight sight line to my monitor/ receiver. This allows the transmitter to only be say 10' or so from the monitor/receiver. viewing is OK. After using it for this summer's trips over 5000 miles to OK and back twice it worked fine. Helped as I drove I-40 mostly the whole way out and back.
FOR under $100.00 it is an OK camera. easy to operate and hookup. IS it the best I am sure it's not but it also doesn't cost over $400-500.
