Frig area insulation

I pulled out the frig.
Looks like fiberglass style insulation attached to the side walls in the frig area. On one side, the frig caught some of the insulation and pulled it back, reducing its effect.
This doesn't look like a very good job.
I found some Styrofoam that I could glue to the sides and do a better job (I think) of insulation.
Any reason not the use Styrofoam. It won't be perfect coverage due to a lot of wires hanging on/from the walls. It should be better in my opinion.
Thanks!
Pat

  • No but it's better to use the insulation board you can get in the big box hardware stores. It is polyurethane with aluminum foil on both faces. In my experience styrofoam does not age well and will be reduceed to a pile of white granules eventually. Lots of people pull out fiberglass and replace it with the insulation boards. Fiberglass is ruined if it gets wet.
