It would be come a fire hazard :E
The entire furnace is COOLED via the air moving all around the furnace housing. Covering the furnace housing with anything will most likely cause the furnace to overheat and IF you are "lucky" the over temp sensor "might" shut off the burner before it burns down your RV..

If you are trying to squeeze more efficiency then you need to forget about RV furnaces, just not happening. RV furnaces just are not designed for high efficiency in converting the propane heat to hot air. No, instead they are designed to get the max heat possible in the SMALLEST foot print..
