Generator Muffler Mods

Hey Gang, looking for input on a generator modification to quite down my Big A** generator.

I have the 2005 version of the Generac Wheelhouse 5500 and have been looking for ideas to fabricate some type of muffler extension or even a replacement muffler that would quieten the generator down considerably more than it is today.

Any thoughts appreciated.

    There's YouTuber videos of guys welding truck mufflers to open frame generators and claiming dramatic reduction in noise. I remain skeptical.

    If you're somewhere with soft soil, dig a foxhole for the generator. Let the earth soak up that sound.

    is your generator a portable or mounted in a RV?
    Modifying the muffler will help with the noise but, a lot of the noise is generated my the mechanical movement of the generator.

    If it's a portable unit you can build a QUIET BOX. Check Youtube for ideas, there are several.
