hard start capacitor

Got a hold of a friend who is an electrical engineer.
Apparently the spp6E already has one of these built in and there is no need for two in the system.
Genny still won't run my a/c. :(
Guess I need to re home the 2000, or re purpose it and get a 3000, as most on here suggested in the first place.

That's part of a standard DuoTherm start capacitor ... well at least we now know you have a Dometic DuoTherm A/C, I'm guessing a BriskAir, because my newer Dometic Brisk II doesn't have this part. I'd put it back in as there's no need to remove anything when installing a hard start cap that merely piggybacks on to whatever is already there. :W

The factory installed black start capacitor says 42-52 mfd on the side of it. So it is smaller capacity than the SPPE capacitor.

Wire it according to the simple PSC plan.

You do have a start capacitor taken out by the resistor on top of the black start capacitor.

The SSPE will take out the start capacitor electronically with a timer (built in) as well as taking itself out once the compressor output voltage returns to normal after start up.

"Normal" voltage is around 130 volts across the run capacitor. At start up, there would be no volts, before it is started, and then jumps to above input voltage once it is running. This is the reason a run capacitor enhances the torque on the compressor, as it will have higher voltage across the terminals because it is there.

If they are recommending removing the stock start capacitor while adding the SPPE, then remove the black capacitor, and it's white and red wires. The SPPE 6 has a built in capacitor in the 100 - 130 mfd size range.

I found the link to the SPPE capacitor size here. http://www.supco.com/web/supco_live/products/SPP6.html They make a SPPE4 for 120 volt compressors, and SPPE7 that has a slightly higher MFD rating.

The rv was only used a couple time before we bought it. Pretty sure it is all original. The capacitor instructions tell how to wire it in to psc or csir tpye units, but I don't know the difference.

I believe it is a brisk air by dometic 13,500 btu
