Home made slide out cargo tray

I want to build a cargo tray to go in the basement of my 5th wheel. I cannot afford the 500-600 dollars for a professionally built and installed one. There has to be an economical way to build one. My main objective is to get my tool box into an accessible position. I built slide out trays in the pantry's in my rv and they work good. Any logical and practical and cheap suggestions would be appreciated

Hey I have one of those, thanks for the idea.
  • For heavy duty slides, find an old popup camp trailer that someone is trashing out, get the slides from under the beds and build your own custom slide trays.
  • Long heavy duty drawer slides...up to 60", and capacity up to 500 lb can be found with a Google search...make a shallow tray or use 3/4" plywood for a flat platform and attach to the floor of the basement.
  • Can't find the link..But this topic has come up before
Several members have done this..including me
Search my posts and you will find some pictures and info

Good 24" heavy duty PANTRY slides will set you back about $130 for a pair
The rest is just marine grade 3/4" plywood and Aluminum Angle for mounting the wood to the slides
I'll post the picture links after I get to my pc..I'm on my tablet
  • I don't have pictures, but met a guy that made slide outs for his MH out of garage door tracks and rollers. Looked real good and worked.
