I spent far too much time working on the fanless enclosure. I got it to work without a fan, but suspect that any back pressure will overcome the exhaust and cause the genset to heat up!
Sitting on the ground with no wind, no problem. A very windy day or running on the back of a motor home while traveling,It may work but I would not trust my $1000 genset too it! Separating the intake and exhaust is a great idea and works well.
I added a 7 inch radiator fan with a speed control, the fan does not have to run full speed to keep the genset cool.
