I was following your example. I ordered 15 led bulbs. But when they arrived the connector is too small. The fixture is for a 1141 bulb and the ones I got are for a smaller one. They came from china. I am leaving on a big summer trip in 2 weeks. Is there a cheap way to use them anyway?
You have the BA9S base, same as the BA15S except smaller. If you can solder, the cheapest and fastest way to change over to the BA15S base is to cut the BA9S base off the adapter, then break the old 1141 bulbs and solder the adapter wires to the 1141 base. I have done this by cleaning out the glass but leaving the wires, then soldering the adapter wires to the old light bulb wires. I filled the base with Bondo. The red wire goes to the contact on the base, the black to the base itself.
BA15S bases are available from SuperBrightLEDs. $0.49 each plus shipping. You will still have to solder the wires to the base.
