I also have a cabinet to the left of my stove and have been full-time almost 7 years, cooking most meals inside. I have not had a problem. The cabinet is far enough away from the burner and I do use covers to try to prevent splatters. Other than that, I just wipe it down when I am cleaning as I do all the cabinets periodically.
