Installing a reverse switch in a Fantastic-Fan

Really I have two questions, first, how do I determine the model of my FF? I have a 2002 Winnie made in 2001 and the kitchen/dining area fan is a manual opening, fan without a reverse switch.

Second question is, what do I need to look out for if I want to just reverse the +/- wires to the motor using a DPDT switch?

In other words, can it be rewired to exhause as well and introduce fresh air?
  • :) Hi, many years ago Fantastic Vent company sent to me a reverse switch kit. It came with instructions on how to wire it.
  • How to reverse 12VDC polarity with a DPDT, (Double Pole, Double Throw), switch.

  • Be sure to connect your new switch just to the wires to the fan motor. You don't want to reverse polarity to anything else in the fan that may require power.
  • Remember, in exhausting the air it is bringing in fresh air from somewhere. Just a matter of opening the windows where you want the fresh air to enter.
  • It might work OK either way. Fan blades are designed to be there in one direction. Might try just reversing the wires and see what happens. See how well it moves air in the other direction.
  • DC motors can turn in either direction (clockwise or counter-clockwise) and can be easily controlled by inverting the polarity of the applied voltage. Strictly speaking, the motors can actually create a force in either direction.
