Installing slide topper awning rail

I recently purchased a solera awning for my slide. In the installation instructions I don't see that it tells if the flange with the screw holes is facing up or down or if it makes any difference as to the location of the flange other than it is to be next to the rain gutter.
Looking for advice.

  • Flange side down was what I thought was the right way. After this post I saw a picture of a factory installed slide awning and the flange side was down. I took it as if both twomed and ivylog were both saying the same thing. Anyway, I'm greatfull the help.
  • If it was on a weekday i would put it up. But on the weekend i would put it down....
  • Ha... One down, and one up. So, which way did you choose?

  • Got ya, I appreciate the input. I was thinking along those lines myself.

I would mount it up for the extra slope to run water off.
  • Down if you can. Less chance of water intrusion with screws under cover.
