I feel like I'm trying to learn a foreign language when reading this electrical stuff.
I just need to know what will be the least PITA for me. I simply want the fridge to run off 12v in transit then when I plug my 30 amp service into the campground power, have the inverter not explode, my trailer catch on fire and all my stuff to work.
If you need any other info, I'll try to answer the best I can.
What should I do; buy an inverter with a built in transfer switch or buy a transfer switch?
Since this is a horse trailer it might be different than the typical 30 amp RV.
Is there a fuse/breaker panel? If so what other circuits? Maybe a picture would help. The transfer switch is best to be used on a branch circuit as it is just 15a rated. If the transfer switch is to carry the full 30 amps then you need a 30 amp transfer switch.
Might be best to have a local Rv place or mobile repair technition look at what you want to do.
Unlike Pianotuna I far prefer automatic transfer switches to manually plugging or having a toggle switch.
