Jensen AWM970 install help

I am installing this radio/DVD player and unable to get the DVD player to work. It accepts the DVD but says no disk and spits it out. I saw a post that said that there is a transport screw that needs to release the player. It is not marked or mentioned in the directions. Yes, I know Jensen was a poor choice but right now I need to make the best of the situation. Any help/advice would be appreciated.
  • Can't say much about the transport screw...

Your using store bought cd or DVD and not a gold coloured home burned disk ?
  • The transport screw is on the back of the unit. It should be shown in the manual.

Hmm.. I looked at the online version of the manual for the unit in question I there is no mention of any transport screw.

TYPICALLY when there IS a transport screw, there WILL be a HUGE bright colored paper held in place by the screw with lots of large writing.

If OP did not see anything like that then either the unit does not have a transport screw OR they bought a USED or REFURBED unit and the player is junk..

Although with the Jensen name I would bet the player is new BUT is junk.

I would personally send it back and get your money back.. Buy a REPUTABLE car stereo brand name like Pioneer, JVC, Clarion..
  • I just installed a refurbished unit and it had a red tag that clearly showed to remove the shipping screw. Of course I did not take a picture nor do I remember exactly where it was. Also as Mudchucker asked, if it is a recorded dvd, this will not play it, seems to be it has to be an original recording to work. So far I am pleased with the unit.
  • All Jensen units have a transport screw that must be removed or the CD will be rejected.
