If you open up one of those battery starter packs, you'll find a small SLA battery inside, anywhere from 12-26 AH (is what I've found). A second, larger battery would be a better choice for running the furnace at night. I carry one of the starter packs, just for the purpose the OP states, to help out anyone in need of a jump. It's more convenient that looking for jumper cables and connecting to/moving the truck.
