Thats my question. Should I leave my 21" LCD on its adjustable arm mount while traveling down the road. Of course I would have it folded all the way back to the wall. I am not worried at all about where the mount is attached to the wall. My concern is where the TV mounts to the bracket that is attached to the arm. It actually seems very secure but it scares me to leave it hanging during travel. Our travels are generally on good roads, we don't do back country camping or RVing. What say all of you. What do you do and how has it worked for you?Thanks

We have a 32" that's mounted to a swing arm with a locking connection. You have to pull a chain to allow it to swing out. It's still quite wiggly so we stuff some small pillows in at the top of the tv. Keeps it from wiggling while towing.

My TV also has a swing arm w/ the little chain dealie. I also have 2 straps that came w/ the trailer that are mounted to the wall and go around the tv to help keep it stable.My TV is a 12v Jensen, and it's "ruggedized" so the normal road bouncing won't hurt the components.WoodGlue

I can switch mine from one slip in slot to another slot in a different position in the camper. I just slip the bracket and TV out, and put it under a pillow.

Hi,I have put about 8,500 miles on my RV since installing the 21" TV on the mount, and nothing has been a problem.I don't think you have to worry about the screws coming out of the plastic that hold the TV to the mount, and the mount should be strong enough to handle the bouncing down the road.My TV is above my head while I am driving, so I bought a TV mount good for 120 pounds, my TV is only about 22 pounds total, but I need it to be strong. It is mounted to 1/2" thick plywood, that is well attached to the framework on my RV, where the old 19" tube set was located. Fred.

We have a 20" on a flush mount with no arm. That one doesn't move.We have a 32" on an arm mount. That one, if not strapped down, moves. We strap it down. Bungee cords will work.

Most of the articulating arm TV mounts are very strong, over-engineered for the weights involved. The new LED TV's are light, less than 10 lbs. in most cases. I decided to mount the arm on a piece of 5/8" plywood that spans three studs and is attached with six screws into the studs. IIRC, I also used some adhesive. It is rock steady.

I would think it depends on where it is mounted. I'm considering mounting a smaller 19"-24" tv on the back wall of our TT. That location has me concerned as it will see a lot of up and down action on the road.

Thanks for all the replies. I am going to leave mine mounted. I used the old strap from inside the cabinet that held the old tube tv in place. I secure it against the cabinets so it can't move at all. I am sure it will be good.

Here is how I stabilized mine for traveling. Have put several thousand miles on it with no problems.

I replaced our bedroom "tube" tv (analog) with a Vizio and mounted it under cabinet about a year ago. No issues. It hangs on swivel mount. Secured with lock-tite on all bolts. Used diamond plates inside cabinet and under cabinet for securing mount. With preparation - you should be fine.

I installed two swing out mounts and have two 32 inch lcd tv's that I always take down and put in original boxes with packing material. I know the mounts are tight and can hold a bit of weight but I am concerned with the light wood used in the wall that they are attached to and the way the TT bounces and shifts during travel with braking and pot holes I would rather not take the chance. I put these in the TV during transport.

mine came with a tie down strap already attached to the wall. For travel we collapse the mount/TV against the wall and secure it with the strap. Do not expect any problems.

It all depends on how secure you feel with the whole mounting system. Based on what others have said if you can secure the TV so that it's not bouncing around while traveling it should be good.

For me it takes 10 seconds to remove or mount my TV on one of the two brackets we have set up. I don't have anything else or than the bracket securing it so we take it down when we're ready to move.
