12 of the SMD 5050 LED's is probably not bright enough. You would need to turn on both fixtures to equal one of of your bulbs.
I have some 24 LED panels with 5050 lights in them, and turn on 2 of them to light up my hallway, it is pretty bright (48 of the LED's) and sometimes turn on both sides of the light fixture (96 LEDs).
What I did is cut the wire going to the existing bulb holder, and wire in two of the adapters that came with the LED panel kit. Then I can plug in either 12 or 24 LED panels to the fixture, one or two. I picked two of the 24 LED panels, and it works out well, barely uses .4 amps for the two X 24 panels.
I bought them at Aliexpress.com Search for 24 5050 LED and you will get a long list. Narrow the search check "Free Shipping" and then look for "List by lowest cost first".
Then you will probably see offers for 1,000 of the LED panels at $1.8 each, and go down a page or so, to find lots of 10 for $2.45 each.
For my porch light, I used 4 X the 24 LED panels, and it is super bright, and you can read a newspaper at about 15' from it. I leave it on 24/7, at just over 8 watts, it is harly worth the effort to turn it off in the daytime. My solar system makes up all the power it consumes.
