I started out with a glass of something or other, in my hand....admiring he new look on our in-home kitchen cabinets. That led to a discussion of putting down a new floor in the RV..which led to 'someone' saying..maybe I should do the cabinets in the RV, too!A bit of a monster...20 doors, drawers, cupboards. All with pulls..have to replace those, of course...I am using a Rustoleum product...https://www.rustoleum.com/product-catalog/consumer-brands/transformations/cabinet-transformations-light-kitIt is a 5 step process...certainly quicker than sanding each bit. Fourth step is The Boss doing a rub on, rub off stain for the de-stress look. Sixth and last then is a glaze. The kicker is that there is a huge amount of wood trim..wood everywhere...that has to be de-glazed..then painted. Which is where we are now..painting the inside of the RV with first of two coats. I have done 1/2 of the first coat on all the removable wood.The kitchen 'look'...And the floor....IF I can find the colour I want..a no click planking, with a full on glue down application. First do a prep on the existing lino..then the glue and planking. And a trip to the floor place has changed my mind about what I am using. Going to go to a click Torley. Much more likely to withstand sever temp fluctuations.Gary Haupt

Looking nice. I personally like that you aren't entirely obscuring the wood grain with a flat color. Of course, what really matters is that you (and yours) like the end result.

Looks great! I like the "de-stressed" theme, rather than the usual "distressed" motif. Very clever word choice, especially for a recreational vehicle.

I contend that every giant renovation starts of innocently enough with a coat of paint.Looking good. Can you do mine? Floor and cabinets?

That cabinet finish is really nice... My mom tried to get something like that on her kitchen cabinets 35-40 years ago, and no one could get her vision. Guess she was just way ahead of her time.

After this afternoon's labours....everything has two coats of the 'bind' paint. A tinted white....and now Sharon is destressing the interior. Cabinet doors will get done tomorrow..(Monday) and I will be putting on the final coat inside...the glaze.

Excellent! Although I have an easier method of distressing -- we call it "camping." Lots of stylish scratches and defects. ;)

Not to worry..the truck has lots of scratches...we call it BC pinstriping....and the decals are faded and I am trying to figure what to do about that. The inside was just looking it's age. 1999 oak gets to look old and tired. And dark...or dim, anyway.

Almost there....

Can really see the difference from the white bond to the finished de-stress look. Most of the staining has been done now...a few missed and touch ups tomorrow. Can put the pulls on today.

Seomthing that needed doing...adding some shelves to existing cabinets. The big one seems to be for linens...and it just stacked in there till it was about 2/3rds full..and couldn't ever find anything anyway.

These two are personal clothing cabinets..I always get the short one...why is that? but again, stuff just got piled in on top of other stuff.

Most all wood has now had it's second coating of top coat. Maybe pulls tonight. I am going to pull the bucket chair and metal tabe leg holes tomorrow so the floor guy and can do his thing. I may put the boxes of flooring in tonight too...so they can acclimate.

I am leaving this post as was done....

I would be finished the woodwork today....but for the thief that ripped off one of my large cabinet doors. I had had to be doing the painting and staining outside in the driveway and sure enough....I discovered this today as I worked my way thru the doors.

The culprit was myself. In my mind...it was one large cabinet door. In reality was two smaller doors, side by side. I discovered this, this afternoon while I am standing there all befuddled..how can I have more doors that holes.

The shelving I put in.

And with the door closed.

And Sharon decided to recover the dinette cushions. They were always collapsing and sliding out. So..a piece of plywood between the original seat backing material and foam. Then covered the original cushion with new material and stapled the whole thing. This week some velcro on the seat bottoms.

Oh, I am so mad on your behalf about that cabinet door! What an awful thing to do to somebody.
