when I narrowed my dinette table moving the mount left two small screw holes visible to each side on the wall. I simply got some of those small plastic decorative rosettes ? and put them over the holes. nobody was the wiser that they didn't come that way. but we are talking about holes that screws left. I don't think it should be a master carpentry problem to fix them. a drop of plastic wood finished with a drop of stain would do it. if you start gluing in pieces, sanding will leave a large area to try to get back to original looking.
