You are obviously immune to any suggestions outside your determined plan. But how the heck to you come up with 12 sq/ft? 1 ft high by 1.5 or 2 ft wide comes out the 1.5 to 2 sq/ft. And has been pointed out you can taper the front of this extension, in a wedge shape, to minimize drag.
