I did my own test of the Chinese LEDs I put in my 5er, and they held 16 volts for over 2 hours with no noticeable increase in heat. Then I cranked them up to 20 volts and after 3 minutes 3 of the 24 LEDs failed, so I shut them down. The other 21 still work, but I haven't tried a longevity test on them after the "voltage spike".
