Thank you for the results of your test. It along with the other posted in this thread gives me confidence that my cheap LEDs will last a while.
In my case I can't ever see my LEDs getting to 20v even if I were charging the battery at the same time as I used them. I usually run the Genny in the morning while cooking on a hot plate or in the heat of the day to run the AC. By night fall the worse I expect is slightly over 13v as the battery rest after just being charged.
I have to believe that the cheap LEDs have improved in quality as time goes on. There have been a few post claiming that they bought them and had most or all of them fail quickly but don't know how long ago that was. Recently the big complaint has been the tape giving when heated up by charging and running the LEDs at the same time. The tape gave out but the LEDs are still fine. Eventually I see them coming out with cheap regulated LEDs too.
Anyone can avoid the melting tape issues by sticking to the cob style of LEDs. In my base I have seen up to 68 SMDs which would be brighter than my panels now and have no tape at all.
