I prefer cob style bulbs, who has only used these types and thought the lighting was good enough from them? What kind did you order? and ebay seller if you remember?
Early on in the thread I posted the smaller 9 LED cob style that we are using for lower light. They are comfortable for just sitting around, eating, watching a movie, etc. We use those much more than the 48 LED panels because those are actually bright enough that they take some getting use too. They are better for reading, working on small stuff as even one will out shine 5 of the smaller cobs.
Most nights we used 4 of the 9 LED cobs in two double fixtures and were happy with the brightness.
In hind sight I wish I had stuck to the cob style because they can be moved or replaced easier. The tape on the panels is more or less permanent and can fail. I think a 48 LED cob would be more than bright enough for us. There are 68 LED cobs if you wanted brighter.
The links to mine are in the beginning of this thread and there are a few other LED threads including the large My LEDs thread with tons of links for a number of Leds.
