  • I just use a short piece of rope with a chunk of garden hose over it for carrying the hitch head. Thread the rope through the top hole, thread it through the piece of hose and tie it off. Works wonders and just used scraps I had lying around.

Well I used an old Boat spare tire mount I had laying around (boat is gone now).

But basically you could use a piece of all thread just bend it into a U slide thru the top hole of the hitch head and tighten with two nuts. Then thread a file handle on the other U for the handle.

Very simple mod I love it and now I can latch it to the coupler with one hand and makes it much easier to carry it.

I like the way you created that holder for your blocks. I use blocks, similar to what you did. Mine are cut out of a support post that came out of an old barn, well over 100 years old now. Solid blocks, will last forever. The original post has chew marks on it in places where cows or horses or sheep chewed on them.

I carry mine (I have 6) in the pass-through. They're pretty heavy, and would like to get them out of the pass through. I started carrying them in the truck (tool box sides) to free up that space in the camper.

Unfortunately, the configuration of my tongue for my Outback does not provide any space to add anything. It's just designed strange with the font cap that curves forward over the tongue, and then slopes back. The battery actually sits under that ledge and the propane tank cover is so close to the front cap, it actually touches.

But, your creativity is now making me think "outside the box" ... literally!

Nice modifications there, TxTwoSome! All of them!

    Thanks!

The rack for the blocks is nothing more then a 1 1'2" piece of angle iron cut to 7.5 foot. Then installed inverted behind the battery box. The angle of it allow you to mount the bolts so the blocks miss the curve of the trailer. I used 6" SS Cap screws and drilled 5/8" holes in the bottom of the blocks to slide over the bolts.

  • Nice job. There is almost no end to all the things we can improve on. After my axle flip I was using blocks under my stabilizers too but got tired of it and went to 30 in jacks.
