New couch, need filler ideas

Hi all,

I have just installed a couch across the back of my HitchHikers living room. There was a recliner there before. I now have about 7" of empty space on each side that I would like to fill with something like a magazine rack or a small liquor cabinet or ???????? I am asking you guys for suggestions and perhaps pictures of what you have or have seen in similar layouts. There are windows on each side that are about 20" above the floor and the couch seat is about 19" high with arms an additional 6" or so.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Thanks,

  • Most towns have a cabinetmaker. What you're looking for would match existing woodwork and not be too expensive. Come visit-I'll fix you up.
  • I think I may just have to make something like this. It will match my interior. It would fill up one side.

  • Thanks for the replies.

Roy, is your power panel in the corner on the drivers side? That's where they put it on my 06. Might want to keep access to that.

It was there. I moved it to the basement. I also removed the hide-a-bed from the slide and moved the recliner to there.

The other side had a narrow magazine rack or something with a large access hole in the side of it. I may fill the hole and hinge the top for drop-in magazine/brochure/map book etc storage.

FYI, the couch makes into a bed and it is bolted to the floor. It has removable arms that have a cup holder in them.

Looking at various brochures on the web, it is hard to tell what they have put there. Most look like a filler with a narrow top and a plug-in at the end. What have you guys seen that might be usefull?
  • We went to an Amish store in Erie, PA a few years ago and found a chair side table. It's oak, has a beverage spot on the top, magazine rack on the bottom. It's 7.5" wide and has a cutout handle at the top so I can easily move it with one hand.

Camping World has a nice slim wall unit. 7"D when folded.

I would probably have installed the couch to one side so the space would be bigger. A good size for a fishing rod rack or desktop pc.

x2, a decent end table could also be put there.

Slid the couch over and put TV trays in that space.
