Unfortunately, have a window behind stove. Use a aluminum oven liner as a back splash.

Well, now that you mention it LarryJM, it may be vinyl covered not fabric...in any case it is hard to clean any grease / cooking splatters off it. It is a wallpaper pattern material glued to paneling or luan plywood, very similar to what is used in mobile homes. In mobile homes I generally paint it with Kilz oil based paint and then top coat it. Would have worked here but I really like the way the back splash cleans up / looks and I did not want to spot paint the area.

Wow our interior walls are vinyl covered. Having fabric covered walls can't be easy to maintain the interior of the trailer, not just around the stove either.

In the past I have installed a thin sheet of clear acrylic/lexon which blends in good and makes cleaning/protecting much easier.

I agree but don't know where else they could have put it ( the outlet ). Certainly not close(r) to the sink. In reality it doesn't work too bad, just requires some thought and planning when using, like most things in a small TT.

I scored the material with a sharp utility knife. It needs to be on a hard flat surface, I used the hard packing board that came with mine as part of shipping pkg. Anyway, be very careful with handling because if it gets dinged / dented or folded sharply it is hard to get defects out. I used a metal yard stick as a straight edge to score the cut line...go over several times. Be careful again because if you slip off score mark you have a permanent scratch, also if not careful you can cut yourself. Score the line a few times then lay it flat on the top of a straight edge surface, I used a workbench. Line the scored edge parallel over edge of table, then put the yardstick ( or whatever ) on top also lined up with the table edge and score mark. Fold the part of the back splash hanging in space downward along the score mark ( may have to move it back and forth a bit ) and it will part easily. Try to plan when cutting to turn the rough ( cut ) edge in a corner or where it will be less noticed. I was able to put one of mine up behind the range hood. Cutting the hole out for the gfi was the hardest part. Just measure twice cut once and take your time. You can cut it with tin snips, but I always seem to put a permanent dent or fold in the edge if I use snips. I did use snips to finish the gfi cutout after I had a rough hole cut.

I used a sheet metal screw 1/2" # 8 screw with pre painted heads. (They were in the specialty screw section at Lowes.). I cut the material, temporarily put it in place, marked where I wanted screws, then laid it back on the hard surface to drill holes for the screws. Mine came with 4 holes, one in each corner. Except along the counter top my screws are only holding in the fabric colored paneling ( wallboard ) which is probably common on TT. I did not pre drill in the walls so the screws would bite more. I used short screws because I was not positive what is in the walls. Do not over tighten the screws.

Good job on the backsplash. What type of fasteners did you use? Some type of washer head screw? Are the screws installed into framing members behind the wall or just into the wallboard?

I think the link works. If you use this material be very careful when cutting it / scoring it with a knife. I made one slip when cutting out for the GFI, scratched the surface. Luckily mine is on the back corner and not too noticed.
