Opinions on EZ Open Handrail? (Stromberg Carlson)
EZ Open Handrail (Stromberg Carlson) Has anybody installed one of these and have in put? My 5 year old has a heck of a time with the door/screen. I thought this could solve his problem.

I finally had the trailer at home and no rain so I got it installed. The instructions are a bit weak -- they are only on the box, no printed instructions inside. But, it is pretty straight forward and I only had to figure out one thing that was on the box but I just missed it.
My opinion:
Installation is easy. Drilling through the door proved how little there is to the door. :) I thought it would take some effort but it's just Styrofoam core with a plastic sheet on the inside wall on the outside wall some thin painted metal (maybe not metal?). You don't want extra holes in the door, so getting it right is important. Basically I held up the assembled device and marked the holes so that I knew they would line up to the brackets and I wasn't relying on my measuring skills.
Use is even easier. Even though I am almost 5'11", I found the EZ Open handle easier than reaching up to the actual door latch. My short kids tried it and like it. I installed this just before putting the trailer back in storage so it hasn't seen long use yet. I noticed the logo molded into the plastic on the brackets of the ez-open matched the logo molded into the plastic on the bar next to the door that the factory installed. It looks intentional and factory installed since it matches the other bar.
In regards to the link to the Amazon review that said they broke the plastic piece that pinches the real door latch.... I'm not sure how they managed to break it. I could imagine one part being installed backwards and I can image the person doing what I initially did, by tightening the two screws on the piece that is meant to slide. Once I realized the piece with the slot needed to slide and I adjusted it(the door wasn't opening smoothly), it all fit right and worked. Also, in my box I had an extra plastic piece that the reviewer said he broke.
So, I'm very pleased with the installation and function. I look forward to getting some more long-term use on it.
