That's basically what I did for simplicity sake. I installed a 30 amp plug in a white outdoor weatherproof box with a white in use cover on the front of the camper near where the shore power plug itself resides. I built a cable with heavy gauge cord and a standard 3 prong plug on the end that runs from the 30 amp receptical to the 2500 watt inverter. Im only on shore power in the driveway as I exclusively boondock in the desert with my set up. My tv, DVD, and all that jazz is 12 volt. Really only run a small coffee pot off 110v but I found it easier to power the whole house than run a new dedicated outlet from the inverter.
