You can also Google it. - Chris_BryantExplorer III would use brass, though the last 3/8" brass elbow I bought could have been solid gold, for the price.
- PRodacyExplorerYou should use brass or black, not galvanized pipes for gas service per code in many areas.
- NMDriverExplorerAlmost every gas oven and clothes dryer uses brass to black iron fittings.
- pappcamExplorerWe never use galvanized fittings for propane or NG up here. Since you are connecting to brass it's best to get a brass fitting as a black iron one would cause galvanic corrosion because of the dissimilar metals in contact with each other.
- RTBabichExplorerIf the hose connection is a flare, tape is not used on flare connections.
Yellow tape is thicker and resistant to petroleum products.
Get a brass elbow which will match the other metals in that assembly. - Da?n spell check!

Galvanizing might flake off also. - 64TrvlrExplorer

I'd use brass or black pipe fittings on a gas line.
This was my first thought too!
When I use a threaded gas fitting I use "gas" line tape it's yellow instead of white. That way when I go back to fix or look at something I know what I worked on and what I didn't.
