I would put
Eternabond tape along the entire edge to prevent the sharp corner from cutting the new rubber roof. This tape will stick to almost anything and will accept most coatings and glues/caulks. It is also quite thick and will give a good cushion on the edge.
The link is to a 4" wide tape but they also sell 2" wide if that would work better for you.
Just be carefull installing it as once it is down it is DOWN! :)
