RDS 63 Gallon auxiliary fuel tank

Just finished installing a RDS 63 gallon wedge shaped auxiliary fuel tank in my 2014 F350 crew cab short bed diesel pickup. Install went very good. I have arthritis, bad shoulders and joints and still did it in under four hours by myself. My question is: do I need to do any additional venting for this tank or my original 26 gallon truck tank? The RDS tank has a vent on top of the tank. thanks!

I built a protector for it out of pressure treated boards as it also sits under my toolbox. I have thought about it and debated it when I originally did it, but it's protected and working fine.

Your ahead of me. I didn't catch the tool box being over it. I'd really only looked at the photo with the tank only

  • Thanks everyone. Headed to town to put about 10 gallons in the tank and check for leaks. I know this tank will make our trips more enjoyable and less stressful.
  • I put in a smaller tank (34 gallon) but added a sight tube on the side, so i can see at a glance the true level of whats inside.

  • If RDS has a vent on it, that's all you need to do. On my ATI tank though, I did lengthen the vent hose to hang down over the top rail of the bed, although your tank I'm guessing, does not make it to the top of the bed being a wedge tank. You should be good to go. Congratulations on the install and here's to many happy miles without having to worry about fuel stops except when you want them! I put a 51G ATI tank in my dually and now have a total of 88G capacity. Love stopping on my terms and in cheaper locations than the expensive truck stops all the time.
