You are not missing a thing. If you can find the wiring between the fuse box and the power supply, adding an on/off switch will have the exact same effect that pushing the on/off button would have. 12V on....OTA TV.....12V off....Cable connection works. If you don't need cable, there is no reason to ever turn the button off unless you will be storing the coach while not plugged in.
