Refrigerator fan

Question

I already have a fan in the stack, a fan on the inside coils for my refrigerator.  We camp in temperatures above the 105 mark quite often.  Knowing that 4th of July weekend was predicted to be between 104 and 108 I thought I would try a little added airflow to see if it helped.  I got another refrig. vent cover and cut out a hole and mounted a 120mm computer fan to draw air in.  Along with the fan in the stack we enjoyed optimum "safe zone" temps in the refrig all weekend.  It worked great.  I take it off when we leave and replace the vent with the original.  I find that the motion of the trailer creates a downdraft thru the exhaust vent and I don't need fans while in motion.

Since the fridge makers had to back that unit with a warranty I would guess whatever it came with would be enough.  However, your temps are sure not the norm.  With all the added air flow do you notice a difference?  You could be onto something

Adding outside fans to increase airflow up the stack to the roof is a fairly common modification that seems to help some.

Baffeling, venting etc. so the mfg. just says it will work, not how well, due to the TT mfg installation.  We leave these 105 degree temps and head to Parker,AZ for 115-118 degree temps(wife likes heat) so the refrig. works hard to keep up.  Everything I have done in the past has helped some but this vent mounted fan seemed to complete the system for the ventilation we needed to try and keep it cool.

I have fans in the vent stack, controlled by thermostatic switch. I added 2 120MM computer fans to pull air across the coils at the top vent (pushing hot air out the top vent).

This past weekend, I was in close to 100 degree heat, and nearly the same humidity. Fridge still struggled, although the added fans on the top did help. I think I will try getting another vent and try what you've done to see if that helps more.

A fan on the inside is as important as one on the outside (chimney).  Doesn't need much airflow on the inside, but the air is trapped and there is so little space I know ours is jammed full, and often it's only the two of us.
