Rube Goldberg move over.

I wanted to install a Tornado washer into my black tank but the only place it could go, did not have enough space between the frame and the tank for the drill & hole saw. But there was a small opening above the frame. By cannibalizing several tools, I made this thing and it worked awkward but functional.

I used a Dremel for the screw holes.

That's a nice home-made tool. I have one sort of similar that my Dad built a long time ago. When I needed to retrofit the current house with in floor radiant heating, I had to drill over a hundred 2-1/2" holes in the floor joists. Then it was time for something bigger.

It has a 1/2" chuck and I haven't found anything it can't power through. You need that long handle to control it due to the leverage when it a big bit digs into a knot or something.

    That is what I needed.

Brilliant! Are you able to get your hand down near the hole saw to hold it in place?

Is there a reduction gear in that right-angle gearbox?

The right angle drive has a 2:1 reduction. If you reverse it it is a 2:1 increase.

Good luck with that Tornado! I replaced mine twice in about 2 years and then gave up on trying to keep it working.

First Tornado I purchased was busted right out of the package, returned it and got another, it lasted a few months then broke as well. No wonder, it's all plastic ... and IMO a waste of $$. :M

If that would take the 3/8 shaft of the hole saw I would have used it.

  • It got the job done. Who cares if it looks like a Medieval Torture Device. :B
