The Reliance Protran 6 circuit transfer switch can be used as 1. 240volt circuit and 4 120v circuits or 6 120volt circuits.
They also make a 8 and 10 circuit switch. Some statements here are confused. You don't need to cut any breakers off in your main box either during an outage or not. You simply start your generator and move the switches on the transfer switch from line to generator.
With line power on you can have 6 circuits running on generator and remaining circuits on line. With power failure you have 6 circuits hot.
To exercise my genny I switch those 6 circuits for a load.
