The Reliance Protran 6 circuit transfer switch can be used as 2. 240volt circuits and 2 120v circuits or 6 120volt circuits. Also 1 240volt circuit and 4. 120volt circuits.
They also make a 8 and 10 circuit switch. Some statements here are confused. You don't need to cut any breakers off in your main box either during an outage or not. You simply start your generator and move the switches on the transfer switch from line to generator.
The OP's original post suggest to me that he has a transfer switch for the utility power input. In that case it would be desirable to turn off all 240V CBs and possibly others to prevent unwanted loads or draws on the small gen.
The circuit transfer switch is a great option. My daughter has one that automatically starts the standby gen when power goes out and shuts down the gen when power is restored.
