DEMOLITION!

Okay, here is the living room-kitchen area, before:



And here is the 12' slideout, note dinette at far end:



Overhead cabinets, most of dinette, window treatments, some lighting fixtures removed. At far corner is one of the two benches to dinette:



Here's an interesting thing: both dinette benches doubled as space for outside-access storage. The small door on the right gave access to the area under the bench on right from the outside. I will rebuild a storage area for this door if possible, but it might have to be sacrificed. There are a lot of really great things about the 2003 Thor Citation layout, but storage was NOT one of them.:



Looking at the dinette bench on left, I'll keep this space as storage, but rebuild. It also has an electrical outlet. Carpet and bench base will be removed during demolition:



Here's a photo of the area under the stairs, from a basically identical 2003 Sky Deck. That one and mine both had a fake log electric heater. It put out some heat, but had to go:

Wow, what a small world! I know it was on their lot for a while. They said they took it to a few shows too. There aren't a lot of people looking for this model, but it was *exactly* what I wanted, so I drove 10 hours to see it. And the price was right. It's getting an extreme makeover now!

An above-floor slide-out mechanism? (by Happi Jac!) That's a thing? Probably should have guessed what was in that enclosed box under the bed platform. Thought it was just a clever lightweight design to support the bed. Maybe I should have thought more about it when I was under the rig... or asked myself what a hand crank was doing in there!

I had wanted to keep this whole room empty and open, with a Murphy bed in the nose. Now I've got to come up with a way to build over this. I am NOT sacrificing an entire room to a bed.

A lot of us love to see make-overs and rebuilds...

Could you tell us what your plan is - why you are tearing it all down? Most rebuilds are because of water damage, but that doesn't seem to be the case here. :)

LittleBill, if I were a rich man... I'd probably buy a brand new Class A Outlaw toy hauler. Instead of sitting on the roof, I'd sit out back. But that's 85k or more. (And actually, a 5th wheel makes more sense for me than a Class A, since I plan to be parked more than running down the highway.) So, after a lot of research, it made the most sense to buy the basic structure I wanted and renovate entirely. With the minute amount of square footage in this unit, I should be able to use nice materials and get exactly what I want for less than I'd pay for an inexpensive 5th Wheel.

pasusan, my plan is to put wood veneer floor and paneling throughout, kind of like this:

Then completely redo the bathroom (the 2003 Citation has a nice, big bathroom), in the spirit of this:

And put a Murphy bed (or similar compact unit) in the bedroom, like this:

...make the rooftop an oasis, along these lines:
