I moved my toilet, didn't need to do anything but cap the existing 3" drain pipe (I have it set up as a cleanout port, accessible from the inside) and establish a new through tank fitting into the tank.
It sounds easy but you want to make sure that your new location stays a bit back from the tank sidewalls and that requires measuring everything a bunch of times. One miss and new tank is needed.
I used a rubber 3" grommet from Tank Depot, IIRC, and a length of 3" pipe. I also used a new toilet flange.
