Started installing my Smart Tiles today and for those of you that have done it, what did you do about the furring strip at the corner?Pics are attached.Geez, and I thought houses were crooked!Thanks!CherylModerator edit to re-size pictures to forum limit of 640px maximum width.

I removed my strips and installed a stainess steel backsplash. Fit great.

If you plan on continuing the tiles around the corner I would just remove the furring for a smooth surface. Usually all it does is cover up a seam and you will be doing that. The strips are usually just stapled on so easy to remove. Sometimes you may have to cut along the edge with a knife if it is caulked. I would recommend holding on to the strip you remove. You may need it elsewhere sometime, and matching material is hard to find. Good luck

It is not caulked, so hopefully it will come off easily.Thanks again!Cheryl

Well, whaddayaknow ... I was going to finally tackle this upgrade today and I too have such a furring strip (did not know that is what it was called) but in the middle of the wall that I want to install it on. I too wondered what I should do and I was leaning towards butting up against it either side. I might still do that but I thought it was interesting that this thread popped up today. :)

Mine kinda blends in with the tile color. My wall is so crooked though, might work out better if I take it off. Mass confusion. Will post pics tonight either way after I finish it today. Well, my smart tile was ok today after 6 days. I have one area where there is a section about 1/8- 1/4" that isn't sticking. Guess I will leave it for now and if it bugs me, maybe I'll put some CA glue on it. Just wanted to update and check with wmoses on his ( her ) progress.

Distracted last weekend with the purchase of a new-to-us car for my wife. Will be going to the trailer tomorrow though.

I decided to postpone my upgrade until the cool weather comes since I have to remove the wall thermostat to get the Smart Tiles behind.
