I started with a 150 watt panel on the roof and 220 amp-hour battery capacity. The problem that we encountered was the location of our campsites were not the best for solar collection. We camp mostly in the Oregon forests so the campsites are under trees and partially shaded during the day. So I added a portable 100 watt panel which has really helped. I can easily move the portable panel to a sunny spot.
The picture is a good example of where the panel on the roof is partially shaded, but the portable panel is in full sun.
