Yes, converter and controller are parallel systems.
"Using load terminals to feed the panels" - I hope you don't mean solar panel.
I also found this in the manual of the older model:
"Connect load positive (+) and negative (-) to the Tracer load output as shown in figure 3-2. The load terminals may exist voltage, connect carefully to avoid short circuit.
Manual may suggest connecting loads to "Load", and this will work at times. Loads terminal is necessarily limited in current, not to mention LVD feature that may get in the way when you don't want it. It's better to connect loads to battery. With fuses.
