For 7 years, we have almost exclusively dry camped with solar. The genny rides in the pass through but last time it was used was 2012 in Death Valley NP when it got real cold and with the clouds, no sun and had to run the furnace. Other than that , the 3 GoPower Girls on the roof, the 4 GC-2 Grunts on the tongue and Big Ivan the Inverter in the pass through provide all of our power needs.
Solar pay off? Just read the quote at the start of this reply and the paybacks from solar speak for themselves.
