Yes, I removed the cover panel on the inside which was screwed onto that 2x2 next to the door. There is a lot of unused space there. The trailer is wooden frame so I would be able to deal with any joists or add header board if needed. I probably would need a place that made them custom. The link I gave does it in half inch increments.

I only would do one side, I need an easy place to put these steps. Since it is a Toy Hauler, I can't use a rear hitch storage solution and I don't want to unstrap things in the truck bed and lift it over the rail for one night stays. Also, when camping, dealing with things in the basement is like building a ship in a bottle.
