Thanks for all the input. Now I have to decide what would be best for my application. I plan to install oak cabinets along the wall (upper parts of kitchen cabinets, about 12" deep) to make up for the storage room that I lost by removing the benches. Without the back of the bench at the drivers seat, I can now swivel this seat around fully. I could not do this with the dinette in place, because the back of the front bench did not allow a full swivel.
This way I have now two rather comfortable chairs (driver and passenger seat) that can be used as recliners when the motorhome is parked, and I still have two usable dining seats with the chairs and table in place.
