Upgrading Shower in 5er

I have a 2004, 34' Montana. I'm a fairly big guy and am constantly hitting the sides with my elbows. I've seen DRV Mobile Suites shower that have the curved door. I think this would really extend elbow room without taking up much more footprint space than what I have now. Heck, even if it goes a couple inches further on the flat sides, I'm ok with that and will make necessary mods.

Does anyone have info on how to go about this? I'm somewhat skilled at construction and remodeling, but that experience is on normal homes. I'm needing to figure out what type of pitfalls I might run into doing this in an RV.

Also, any resource for acquiring the new shower would be great!

Thanks in advance, guys. I LOVE this community.

What do you currently have and what are your really looking for?

here is a nice 39" corner unit from HD.

  • A tiled shower, even with very large tiles, would be a challenge due to the differential movement of the wall to wall and wall to floor joints. This may be handled by using Kerdi board and banding the seams though. Still a tad risky.

A prefab unit would solve the above problem, but how will it fit through the doors to fit into place?
  • Having done my fare share of home remodeling, I have learned if replacing an item, it is always a requirement to have that "item" in your possession before tearing anything apart.

In my younger days and young experiences, I would measure, cut, remove, and go get the replacement or changed item. Far to many times, the item was then discontinued, or when actually in my possession, the wrong size. This led to re-work. After a few experience like that, I learned to have all the "parts" first before even starting any demolition! It's been my practice every since.

So, my advise, get the shower adaptations first before attempting the rebuild. With your experience, you'll have no problems with an RV. It's still just wood and staples or screws (they don't use nails in campers you know!)
