Want to upgrade my trailer tires, but running into problems

I currently have ST225/75R15 tires on my trailer. For my 15,000 mile trip to Alaska this summer, I'd love to upgrade to Michelin XPS Rib LT225/75R16 tires. The problem I'm finding is that 16" wheels with a 5x4.5 lug pattern are difficult to find. Has anyone had this problem, and solved it?

  • What is the trailer GVWR? Can you get by on LT215/75R15 rated 2095 pounds at 65 psi?

Otherwise you may as well get new hub and brake assemblies.
  • Have you looked into Maxxis Load Rage E 225 75R15 tires. They are the next best thing in 15's and may be your only option with the standard 15" wheel lug pattern. That is if you are currently running Load Range D's.
