For as important as water pressure regulators are to protect the water pump and plumbing, why don't the manufacturers install pressure regulators as standard equipment?Has any one added it to the internal plumbing of their camper?Pros, cons and thoughts?

If they Will sell unit with tires that were barely adequate, or put in a check valve instead of a shut off valve, why would you think they care much about protecting anything if it will cost another dollar??

Think of it this way. You put 100PSI on your plastic fresh water hose at 85 degrees in direct sunlight. What do you think will happen to the hose? YUP! explosion. Most people don't want to replace their water hoses once a week, so they put the pressure regulator at the faucet. Dropping the pressure through the hose to around 40-45PSI.

donn0128 has it exactly correct.

Some RVs do have a water pressure regulator from factory.And when they have a problem with it they have to disassemble the water panel to get to it.A portable adjustable regulator at the hose bib protects everything downstream and is easy to access. An adjustable can be set for a pressure owner is comfortable with and if you get one that is rebuildable.....priceless

Don't know 'bout priceless .... My Watts was pretty pricey. :)

I put a Watts adjustable pressure regulator in my Pace Arrow with a gauge on it so I know exactly what pressure I am putting through the pipes. I got it at Ace Hardware. I figure I can replace a water hose if it blows.

I use a Watts regulator,at the hose bib,I'm not much worried about protecting the hose,it's the plumbing in the RV that I am more interested in.A few bucks to replace a hose is nothing to repairing water damage in the RV if the high pressure causes a connection to break loose.

I keep my Watts pressure regulator in my water bay on the far end of my hose. I haven't lost a hose yet and camp all summer long.

Ditto here, my Itasca m/h has a serviceable / replaceable water pressure regulator built in. Access is very easy.

Both of my 1970's era Airstreams had both Watts regulators *and* Watts pressure relief valves built in to the plumbing .

yep, they could put in a $9.00 walmart special.
they also could put in a multi-function surge protector and they don't.
